Mission: “Local volunteers who will assist citizens, law enforcement, fire fighters, emergency crews and animal response teams with the basic aid and transport of animals in need of immediate care in Multnomah County”.
One of the biggest tragedies after a natural disaster or large scale emergency is the displacement of animals and pets and the sometimes-inevitable separation between ourselves and our beloved companions that we often consider family.
OCCRA is a pilot project in Multnomah County, developed to train a group of volunteers to help in situations like these, when emergency sheltering and care is critical to thousands of animal lives. OCCRA volunteers will work with emergency responders and rescue teams during these kinds of scenarios, as well as help fill the needs of citizens and our local law enforcement and Fire Bureau when coming in contact with injured or displaced animals day on a day to day basis.
OCCRA is still an under development rescue group, and we appreciate any donations to help the cause, purchase equipment, and organize training.
